The source of Terme di Sorano is located upstream of the only travertine hill in the surrounding area, in this corner of Tuscany known as the land of tuff, some sulfur springs are well known, including those of Saturnia. In Sorano, however, due to the presence of travertine, which significantly influences the destinies and virtues of Terme di Sorano, indeed our Waters boast a long and complex journey and flow underground in contact with the travertine, which allows them to enrich themselves with compounds and characteristic chemical elements and peculiar. The same elements and compounds that are the basis of therapeutic qualities. Unique in its kind in the Tuscan landscape and beyond, it is water rich in mineral salts, bicarbonate-sulfate-calcium-magnesium, and naturally flows at a constant temperature of 37.4°C. Unlike most Tuscan thermal waters, those of Sorano do not contain hydrogen sulfide (the compound with the typical sulfur smell). It seems that, across the entire national territory, only one other facility allows the enjoyment of therapeutic services aimed at the treatment of dermatological diseases, like Terme di Sorano.

More specifically, the waters rich in mineral salts of the sulfate-calcium-magnesium type appear to be particularly effective in treating skin diseases, such as psoriasis and dermatitis. The curative properties of magnesium act on dermatitis thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-itching, sebum-regulating, antioxidant, keratoplastic-keratolytic effects (facilitating the shedding of superficial skin layers and stimulating the production of a new, healthy, elastic, and soft corneal layer), and regulation of skin circulation. Between June 2014 and January 2015, 62 patients suffering from psoriasis were examined; half of them underwent thermal therapy consisting of 14 daily immersion sessions in the waters of Sorano, while the other half formed the control group. The results showed a reduction in the severity of skin lesions and an improvement in the quality of life. The high soothing capacity of Sorano’s thermal water also reduces skin inflammation and itching caused by atopic dermatitis, for example. As we have seen, Sorano’s thermal waters have a beneficial effect on various skin diseases, without forgetting that the microclimate and location of the Sorano thermal complex make it an optimal environment for the successful outcome of various therapies. Just consider allergic individuals, for example, who can find an environment free of dust, pollen, and allergens.

It has been widely known since ancient times that thermal waters bring great benefits for our physical well-being, and today we additionally know that depending on the composition of the mineral water, remedies for certain specific diseases can be found. The range includes rheumatism, respiratory diseases, dermatitis, osteoarthritis, and vascular diseases; there are several pathologies that thermal water help to solve or promote improvement. As we have already emphasized, those of Sorano are particularly effective against dermatitis, but its beneficial effects do not stop here. Beyond the therapies offered, based on the water of Sorano, there is an additional experience that the spa complex offers, which is the first soothing element of every therapy: a natural and uncontaminated environment in the most authentic Maremma, against stress, the frenzy of daily life, and all those variables that affect our well-being, including physical. The ecosystem in which the thermal complex has arisen is indeed a unique combination of history and biodiversity, making every kind of experience even more captivating.

As we mentioned in the first article of the Blog, Terme di Sorano are truly unique in the local area, […]

[41,22

post-3652","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog-en","category-uncategorized
["GET
